To All Veterans!

To all veterans of the United States Military if you have any medical issues that are not being addressed I would encourage to visit the following link: Veterans Affairs
This link will help you in starting to understand the procedures required to help you to receive earned VA medical care. The most important issue to remember is to call or write your local VA Rep. and request parer work to process a medical claim.
All major cities in the U.S. have VA clinics where veterans can go for immediate care for colds and flu that sort of thing. In Toledo Ohio the address is Toledo VA Outpatient Clinic 3333 Glendale Ave. phone number 419-259-2000. I encourage all veterans to take care of their bodies and seek preventive medical attention such as a check up, blood pressure, and all other issues.

It Takes A Thief!

I was recently turned on to "It Takes A Thief" on The Discovery Channel. I would recommend everyone view this series. The shows format is set up so that the viewer sees everything from the break in to the security measures used to secure the break in site. I have learn several important things to secure my home better, from locking up our important keys in a key wall safe, to putting locks on windows, and purchasing a security system that will allow our pets to roam without the alarm going off. My only complaint is that it airs at 6pm and I miss the news. Then its "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader". On second thought my kids are right this is better than the national news.

Serpent Mound

Serpent mound, stretching a quarter mile long, is the largest serpent effigy (representation of an image) known to this day. The Native Americans who built this effigy wanted it to last forever. Thanks to the Ohio Historical Society the site is being well preserved.

Miami-Erie Canal

The Miami-Erie Canal played an important role in the development of Ohio. It allowed huge amounts of trade to flow through Ohio and allowed Ohio farmers to ship vast amounts of crops. The building of the canal was an engineering challenge in 1825 and pictured below is Lock 13 of 103 Locks used to connect Cincinnati to Lake Erie via Toledo. Today the canal is being restored in several places by local governments and I will have additionl pictures and information in the future.

I Feel Patroitic Today

I heard on the news today that 10 American Solders died in combat operations in Iraq over the weekend. The human sacrifice for this flag is very high. I pray its not in vain. God Bless This Flag.

Fort Defiance

Few people today recognize the importance of Fort Defiance in American history. It is from this place that General Anthony Wayne lead an army against the Indians and defeated them in a battle called Fallen Timbers in present day Maumee Ohio thus acquiring the territory that is now the states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I visited Fort Defiance Dec. '06 and took this pictures. There is not much left to see.

Chief Tecumseh Speaks

I am reading about Tecumseh a Shawnee Chief who fought bravely for his people and this is part of a speach that I beleive is true today as it was 200 years ago.

"So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.
Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and
Demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life,
Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and
Its purpose in the service of your people."

If only we.... only I could live by these words wouldn't life be that much greater.
